How AI trip planning works
Cairn uses AI to analyze your preferences, destination data, and conditions to generate tailored trip plans.
The technology behind Cairn
Cairn uses advanced AI models trained on outdoor recreation data including trail databases, weather patterns, campsite information, and gear specifications. When you describe a trip, the AI cross-references your requirements with real destination data to build a complete, practical itinerary.
What Cairn considers
Every generated itinerary takes into account multiple factors: the specific trails and terrain at your destination, seasonal weather patterns, elevation gain and difficulty ratings, available camping or lodging options, sunrise and sunset times, and typical conditions for the time of year. This produces plans that are both enjoyable and realistic.
Getting the best results
Describe what you're looking for in natural language. Instead of filling out rigid forms, just tell Cairn what you want: "I want a weekend car camping trip near Denver with easy hikes and good stargazing." The AI understands context and preferences, and will ask clarifying questions if needed to refine the plan.
Continuous improvement
Cairn learns from aggregate community data to improve recommendations over time. Popular routes, highly-rated campsites, and seasonal trends from the community all feed back into better suggestions. Your individual data is never shared — only anonymized patterns are used to improve the AI.
