Sand Hills

The Sand Hills of Idaho are a remote and rugged mountain range located in the central part of the state. This volcanic range is characterized by steep, rocky slopes and high-elevation plateaus, with numerous peaks and ridges reaching over 9,000 feet in elevation. The terrain is generally sparse, with limited vegetation due to the arid climate, but the landscape is dotted with alpine lakes, streams, and meadows. The Sand Hills are known for their challenging hiking and backpacking opportunities, as well as opportunities for wildlife viewing, including elk, mule deer, and a variety of bird species.
