Pumpkin Buttes

The Pumpkin Buttes are a small, isolated mountain range located in northeastern Wyoming. This rugged landscape is characterized by rounded, mesa-like peaks that rise abruptly from the surrounding high plains. The range is predominantly composed of sedimentary rock formations, including sandstone, siltstone, and shale, which have been eroded over time into distinctive buttes and canyons. Elevations range from around 5,000 feet at the base to over 6,500 feet at the highest points. The terrain is generally dry and sparsely vegetated, with scattered pockets of ponderosa pine, juniper, and sagebrush.
