About North Hansel Mountains

The North Hansel Mountains are a rugged and remote mountain range located in central Idaho. Characterized by steep, rocky terrain, the range features dramatic ridgelines and numerous alpine lakes nestled between towering peaks. The landscape is predominately forested, with subalpine fir, Engelmann spruce, and whitebark pine giving way to exposed rocky outcroppings and talus slopes at higher elevations. Glacial activity has sculpted much of the range's dramatic topography, leaving behind U-shaped valleys, cirques, and glacial moraines.
