Colorado's Premier Backcountry Hut System
The 10th Mountain Division Hut Association operates a system of 38 backcountry huts in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, including 14 huts owned by 10th Mountain and additional partner huts sharing the reservation system. Connected by over 350 miles of suggested routes, these huts provide a unique opportunity to experience Colorado's high country in both summer and winter.
System Highlights
What to Expect
Named after the 10th Mountain Division soldiers who trained at Camp Hale during World War II, the hut system was established in 1980 to honor their legacy. Many of the original huts were built by veterans of the division, and the system has grown to become one of the most extensive backcountry hut networks in North America.
