About this hut

Black Mountain Lookout is situated on the eastern edge of the Beckwourth Ranger District, 10 miles from Highway 395 near Milford, California. While the lookout originally served as a post to assist the Forest Service with spotting fires, it now serves as a recreation rental. The lookout offers striking 360-degree views of Honey Lake to the north and Last Chance Creek to the south. Four people can fit in the cabin. Camping space is available outside. Maximum occupancy for the site is eight visitors.
